Natural & Organic DIY Eczema Cream

February 1, 2018

For those of you who suffer from Eczema will know the agony that you face daily to help relieve that itch and burning sensation. Even when using conventional creams, oinments, lotions, I have found no relief from my very dry skin condition and neither did it for my sister’s eczema.

I discovered my own solution by researching and through trial and error, found relief with this really simple and easy DIY cream using the following.

Raw Shea butter as it works as an anti -inflammatory and is very high in Vitamin A and E, both
required for healthy skin as well as boosting collagen. However, some may not like the greasy feel of Shea Butter, a rather lovely alternative is Raw Mango Butter, again super high in Vitamin A, E, C, D and group B vitamins and is less greasy.

Organic Lavender Essential oil, helps to heal the red dry skin as well as balance the mind. Myrrh Essential Oil is great for rejuvenation of skin and is also anti-inflammatory.

Organic Calendula infused oil, is often overlooked, but it is essential in repairing and healing skin conditions. This should be considered as the super hero of the recipe.

Personally, I use the Shea Butter version at night and the Mango Butter version during the

  • ½ Cup of  Organic Raw Shea Butter or  Organic Unrefined Mango Butter

  • 4 tablespoon of Organic Calendula Oil

  • 20 drops of Organic Lavender Essential Oil

  • 10 drops of Organic Myrrh Essential Oil

  1. If you do not have a double-boiler than mix the Shea Butter/Mango Butter with the Calendula oil in heat proof glass jar or a small pan. Place the Jar/pan into a larger pan half filled with hot water whilst on the stove.

  2. Let the butter and oil melt. Once melted take the jar/pan out very carefully as it will be hot! And allow it to cool where you can almost see It start to harden, but ensure that it doesn’t harden.

  3. This step is important, make sure the mixture has cooled enough as the healing properties of the essential oils will not work if it is too hot. Once it has cooled add the essential oils.

  4. If you have a whisk, mix it until it goes fluffy in appearance. You can use a fork if you do not have a whisk but this will take longer to get to a fluffy appearance

  5. Transfer the cream into a jar that you would like to keep it in. I prefer using glass jars as the essential oils may cause the plastics to leech into the cream.

There you are! However, I must caution that you do a skin sensitivity test as essential oils are potent and may react to your skin. It takes usually a few days to see the difference, some do claim to notice right away.

We would love for you to let us know if this cream has helped or how you have adjusted the recipe to suit you!
